A Magical World

Escape… I love escaping, I believe most of us do. Who does not like a magical world where everything   can happen.

Would you believe me if say that there is a magical door in our college and behind that you could be anyone, anything, a place where dreams come true, a place where you would fine the best friend of your life. The magic is hidden behind the door of Central Library. Ok, I know now you would think that “It is not a magical place, it is just filled with a very large amount of books. So, only book lovers would find it magical not everyone.” Trust me, it is magical for everyone, let me just explain it.

You don’t have to read at first , just go to the library or the reading room and stand there and look around , walk between the shelves filled with hundreds of books , pick them up , touch the pages and feel it, smell it , listen the sound of pages and without knowing one day you would find yourself coming back to them every single day and one day you would start reading and maybe you will become a member of the book club like me or won’t but at the end of the day you would make some incredible  friends, the books and I’m sure of it because you can find books on any topic in our library and study room ; if you don like reading long books you would very much enjoy some company of incredible magazines and if you like me who likes to get lost in the fictional world , there are plenty of story books and novel to and if you want to be the next topper or just want to learn more there are amazing rear educational books available and many of them has multiple copies for better accessibility. So, what are you waiting for? Open the magical door and read a book in the reading room or bring your new friend to home for 15 days from library or admire the peaceful environment of the reading room or library, you are welcomed either way. And the most exciting part is, now you can access the library and connect with your favourite books through your phone and beside that many e-books are also available and some great study material.

Dream a little longer; talk to the books; listen, the books are telling something; fall in love with the silent conversations; bath in the fragrance of old books…  it is your time to feel the magic. Are you ready for this adventure?

বই-সই সমিতির চতুর্থ বই-কথার আস র  বসেছিল ২৩ সেপ্টেম্বর ২০২২ তারিখ বিকেল দুটো পনেরো মিনিটে, ডঃ বি.সি. রায় মেমোরিয়াল হলে (অডিটোরিয়ামে)।   এদিনের সভার বিশেষত্ব ছিল চার রকম চারটি বইয়ের ওপর আধারিত বই-কথা। চারজন বক্তাই ছাত্রী এবং সবাই ইংরেজি বিভাগের। এবং আরেকটি উল্লেখ্য ব্যাপার হল, এই প্রথমবার বই-সই সমিতির সভা বসেছিল অডিটোরিয়াম হলে, যা সমিতির পক্ষে অবশ্যই একটি মনে রাখার মতো ঘটনা। শুধু তাই নয়, এদিনের সভার সঞ্চালনার দায়িত্বও ছিল একজন ছাত্রী, ইংরেজি বিভাগের অঙ্কিতা সামন্তর (Ankita Samanta) ওপর। বলা চলে এদিনের সভা ছিল ইংরেজি বিভাগের জন্য একটি ‘স্পেশাল’ সভা।   অনুষ্ঠান শুরু হয় গ্রন্থাগারিকের অবতরণিকার মাধ্যমে। তারপরে স্বাগত ভাষণ দেন অধ্যক্ষ শ্রীমতী জয়শ্রী লাহা। তিনি সংক্ষেপে বলেন বই পড়ার আনন্দের কথা। স্বাগত ভাষণের পর সুন্দর একটি ভুমিকা সহকারে মূল পর্বের অনুষ্ঠান শুরু করে অঙ্কিতা। প্রথম বই-কথাটি ছিল একটি ইংরেজি বইয়ের ওপর। আফগান-আমেরিকান লেখক Khaled Hosseini-র “The Kite Runner”. বইটির পটভূমি অনতিঅতীতের আফগানিস্তান। সেদেশে রুশ দখলদারি থেকে তালিবানি শাসন অবধি কাহিনির সময়সীমা। এককথায় একট...

6th Session of Boi-Soi Samiti

  Time flies in such a way that we were sitting on the 6 th Book-Talk which was held on 30 th Jan at 2pm in Rabindra Neer. This session was indeed special for its diversity in the book talk. On the opening ceremony, Ankita Samanta, the member of Boi-Soi Book club gave us, the book wormers, a warm welcome and made us aware that today’s book talk was different as for the first time a translated version of book was going to be presented in front of us. Also, today we would be enlightened with a religious text. The very first book talk was given by Basanti Bera , a student of Computer Science (H) of 3 rd Year on the Book named “Blood Sister” written by Kim Yideum . IT was exciting as we learnt that it was a Korean novel which had been translated into English. The book dealt with systemic sexism, gendered violence, and social pressure in South Korea.
